MINDS - ONOPTION #1: WORDLE RACE
Students are given 45 seconds to create a wordle by recalling as many terms from the chapter as possible. Their terms are entered into the wordle software and the wordle's created can be printed and put up in the classroom to enforce the terminology. OPTION #2: THE LAST HEART ATTACK: DR. SANJAY GUPTA DOCUMENTARY A CNN documentary showing that heart disease is a condition that could affect anyone, even the president of the United States of America. The documentary addresses how heart disease develops and what leads to heart attacks. |

The documentary is a good way to bring all the concepts learnt in the last few lessons. It has great visuals of blood vessels and various pathophysiologies, to show students what a blockage looks like. It ties together diet, lifestyle and diseases of the circulatory system. The video is about 40 min long, therefore, can be shown during one period and can be followed up with a discussion. You may also choose to give out a worksheet with the video. |

Student presentations can be a great way to bring the chapter to an end and be used as a culminating assessment for the entire chapter. It gives students the opportunity to be creative and resourceful and brings all terms and concepts from the lesson together. Once the presentations have come to an end, it also marks the end of the unit. Giving students a few minutes to write a page reflection on the unit is a good way to bring the unit to an end. Ask students to think about some of the misconceptions they had coming into the unit and how that has changed. |
