OPTION 2: OPTION 1: LESSON PPT OPTION 2: MAKING COMPONENTS OF BLOOD OUT OF CANDY Students use candy to make different components of blood in their right ration. (Instructions attached) CONSOLIDATION: 3-2-1 EXIT CARD |
PEDAGOGYMost students are familiar with Ms. Frizzle and her adventure. Though the show is geared towards the younger grades, this clip (can be shortened) could tap into the emotional memory of students and engage them if they are able to recollect watching the show.
If your school is fortunate enough to have access to a centrifuge, then showing students the different components of blood through separation would be ideal. However, since most school do not have access to a centrifuge, having students creatively put together the different proponents of blood is an excellent way to get students to get a visual feel of the components of blood. Further, it allows students to understand the components in terms of percentage which is a way to have a conversation around the different functions of blood and it's components. An exit card is an effective way to see whether your students understood the content. More specifically, if an activity such as the Making Components of Blood out of Candy is used to deliver the lesson, it's always a great way to check to make sure your students have understood the content. |
