Incorporating STEM Education-Creative Ideas for Student Product
A great way to incorporate aspects of technology, math and engineering into this branch of science would be to have students design and then create a computer program that illustrates a key aspect of genetic disorders. With the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projecting that the bulk of STEM careers will be in computing (71%) by 2018, it almost seems to be a requirement to incorporate aspects of computing and programming into the many facets of science. The use of HTML, Scratch, and JavaScript in having students display their knowledge on the topic of genetic disorders can be a fantastic opportunity to also introduce what could very well become a necessary skill to have in upcoming years.
